Katie is working as a mental health therapist under supervision after completing her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She also has a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and has worked as a pastor and chaplain since 2010, providing care and support for people from many religious and non-religious backgrounds.
Katie works with individuals aged 10 and older, couples, and families, on the changes they would like to see in their lives. She has an extensive background working with adolescents and emerging adults, navigating these stages of life with their joys and challenges. Katie also has experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples and doing pre-marital counseling as a certified Prepare-Enrich
facilitator.
Katie has additional training in multicultural responsiveness and counseling, spirituality and spiritual abuse, sex and sexuality, LGBTQ marriage and family therapy, grief and loss, mindful self-compassion, and Gottman Level 1 Couples therapy training. Katie is also a Brainspotting practitioner, a therapy that aids in processing trauma.
Katie approaches therapy from a family systems and solution-focused approach, emphasizing client strengths, and understanding clients holistically as people with minds, hearts, and bodies, impacted by the relationships, systems, and cultures that surround us. Some of the clinical issues Katie works with include: anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use, conflict resolution, communication, domestic and sexual abuse, grief, ambiguous loss, life stage adjustment and transitions, and self-esteem.
Katie is currently accepting new clients in-person in the Northfield office and via telehealth.
